Merix Marketplace exists to solve a specific, practical problem: independent local businesses — the neighborhood grocery, the family-run restaurant, the small clothing boutique — rarely have the resources to build and maintain their own online storefront, inventory system, and point-of-sale software. Meanwhile, the platforms that do offer this kind of infrastructure are typically built for large chains, priced accordingly, and disconnected from any real sense of place.
We built Merix to close that gap. It's a combined marketplace and point-of-sale platform: on one side, a public storefront where customers in a given area can browse real, currently-in-stock products from every participating local business at once; on the other, a full suite of tools — point-of-sale, inventory tracking, order management, supplier coordination — that any of those businesses can use free of charge to actually run their operation day to day.
When you visit the marketplace, you're looking at live inventory pulled directly from each store's own system — not a curated catalog maintained separately. You can filter by country, province, or city to see only stores that can realistically serve you, search for a specific product across every store on the platform at once, and read reviews left by other customers before deciding where to shop. When you're ready to order, you're taken to that store's own ordering page to complete the purchase directly with them.
A store signs up for free and chooses the type of business it runs — retail, restaurant, or general point-of-sale — which determines which tools it gets access to: barcode scanning and stock thresholds for a retailer, table and kitchen management for a restaurant, and so on. From there, every sale, every inventory change, and every new product automatically syncs to the store's own page on the public marketplace, so customers always see what's actually available.
We don't take a cut of every transaction the way many marketplace platforms do by default — store owners can choose to subscribe for continued access to the full toolset, but the underlying software is built to be genuinely usable by a small operation without needing a dedicated IT budget. Our focus is on making the tools good enough, and the marketplace visible enough, that showing up on Merix is worth a local business's time.
Merix Marketplace currently supports stores and customers across multiple countries, with the platform automatically adapting currency, language conventions, and location-based discovery to match each region. As more merchants join from new areas, the marketplace's coverage grows organically along with them.
